Welcome to our DGYO website. The DGYO welcomes all young players of orchestral instruments at grade 3 level and above and who live, work or study in Dumfries and Galloway. Joining the orchestra will provide you with a wonderful opportunity to learn pieces and arrangements from the main orchestral repertoire. Together we will develop our playing skills in a way that motivates, inspires and encourages all of us valuing everyone’s contribution in a true celebration of music making. The DGYO will not only enhance your music skills but also provide you with the opportunity to develop your listening, teamwork, analytical, creativity and communication skills. You will meet other musicians from across the region and play together as a full orchestra as well as practise in small groups with expert tuition from our professional volunteers. Joining the orchestra is free. We hope that you enjoy looking at our website and if you have any questions or would like further information, please email me: contact@dgyouthorchestra.org.

Rehearsals

We shall be holding another series of rehearsals followed by a concert on 11 and 18 May and 1 June.

The rehearsals will be in the Minerva Hall of Dumfries Academy starting at 10:00am.  On 1 June the short, informal (and free) concert after the rehearsal will start around 12.30pm.  All are invited.

On 16 June we'll be participating in a concert by the Solway Sinfonia from which all profits will go to DGYO.  That will be in the wonderful new hall of Dalbeattie Learning Campus.   Thanks to the Solway Sinfonia!

A small group of players will be performing at a Burns Society concert 28th July at the Mill on the Fleet, Gatehouse and a different group will be playing at an Absolute Classics Young Person's Concert on 10th August.  We're also in discussions to play at Moat Brae, Dumfries, at Kirkcudbright Art Gallery and Broughton House, Kirkcudbright.

Then we’ll have more sessions in September and November - dates and venues to be announced.  Read More.
