Dumfries and Galloway Youth Orchestra
Welcome to our DGYO website. The DGYO welcomes all young players of orchestral instruments who live, work or study in Dumfries and Galloway and we offer opportunities for all levels of experience. See the section called "Taking Part" for more information. Joining the orchestra will provide you with a wonderful opportunity to learn pieces and arrangements from the main orchestral repertoire. Together we will develop our playing skills in a way that motivates, inspires and encourages all of us valuing everyone’s contribution in a true celebration of music making. The DGYO will not only enhance your music skills but also provide you with the opportunity to develop your listening, teamwork, analytical, creativity and communication skills. You will meet other musicians from across the region and play together as a full orchestra as well as practise in small groups with expert tuition from our professional volunteers. Joining the orchestra is free. We hope that you enjoy looking at our website and if you have any questions or would like further information, please email me: contact@dgyouthorchestra.org.

Music at an Exhibition

Congratulations to members of the DGYO that took part in "Music at an Exhibition", on Saturday at Kirkcudbright Galleries.  It was a wonderful afternoon, with pieces selected to pay tribute to the work and life of John Faed.  The music included Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Espana by Chabrier and Holst's Jupiter. Before concluding with a good selection of Scottish ballads and reels a string quartet played Bonnie Gallowa, which was beautifully sung by Josephine Pallinder.
It was such a fun afternoon, with a super audience and terrific for the orchestra to have the opportunity to play in the new gallery.  Our thanks to the Gallery for your support.
A recording of the concert is available here.
