DGYO Logo Competition Awards

The DGYO is delighted to announce the winner of its logo competition. Bethany Platt from Thornhill was chosen as the winner in a process that involved the orchestra, Ken Smyth and Gyllian Dickson, with the final adjudication of the final five entries by Anne Ramsbottom, Curator of the Kirkcudbright Gallery and Dame Barbara Kelly.  Second prize was awarded to Edie Wright from Kirkcudbright Academy.

Dame Barbara Kelly awarded the prizes at a presentation in the Gallery on the 29th June, where all entries were on show. It was a very hard decision, with 299 entries from across the region and we very much appreciate all the  help we received to make the logo competition a success. In particular we would like to thank Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary Club for donating the prize and the Kirkudbright Gallery for all their help in hosting our awards ceremony. We would also like to thank Fraser Hannah and Wilson Hainey for entertaining us all with their violin duets, their music resonating across the Gallery. Our thanks too to Anne Ramsbottom and Dame Barbara Kelly for their support and finally, all the artists that took part in the competition. The entries were truly excellent and we will look to use other entries in posters and advertisements for our concerts. All the entries can be seen on our website here                                                                                                                                                                                                                        http://dgyouthorchestra.org/logo-competition
